چکیده

Objective: To evaluate the results of fracture union in closed reamed interlocking nail in fractures of femur. Methodology: A descriptive study conducted at Department of Orthopaedic surgery Ittefaq Hospital Lahore from March 2003 to July 2004. Fifty patients were recruited from Accident & Emergency and out patient department having close fracture of femoral shaft. All patients were operated under general or spinal anesthesia and closed reamed interlocking nailing was done. All patients were followed for nine month. Results: Out of fifty patients, Forty seven patients underwent union in 90 to 150 days with a mean of 110.68 days. Ten patients had dynamization within six weeks because of obvious fracture gap in radiograph. There was one patient who had non-union, and two patients had delayed union which was treated with dynamization. Conclusion: Close reamed interlocking intramedullary nail in femoral shaft fractures is the treatment of choice. Patient rehabilitation is early, hospitalization is short, and fracture healing response is good.

Outcomes in Closed Reamed Interlocking Nail in Fractures of Shaft of Femur.

BACKGROUND Femoral shaft fracture is one of the common fractures seen in accident and emergency department of our hospital. Violent forces are required to break this and strongest of human bones. There are various treatment modalities for femoral shaft fractures in adults like traction, brace, platting, intramedullary nail (IMN), external fixators and inter locking nails. The study was done wit...

Evaluating Effects of Autologous Bone Marrow Injection Obtained From Reaming of Intramedullary Interlocking Nailing in Closed Diaphyseal Fresh Tibia Fractures in Fracture Healing

We performed a prospective, randomized controlled study on 60 patients with fresh closed diaphyseal tibial fractures to determine the effect of percutaneous autologous bone marrow injection on union rate. Sixty patients were randomized into a group of 30 patients each. 30 patients were treated with reamed intramedullary interlocking nail and 30 patients were treated with combination of reamed i...

Complex Fractures of the Tibia and Femur Treated with Static Interlocking Intramedullary Nail

BACKGROUND Reamed interlocking intramedullary nailing is considered the gold standard treatment for complex fractures of the femoral and tibial shaft. There has been some controversies about dynamization of statically locked nails, and some authors recommended routine dynamization for promotion of healing. This study aims to evaluate treatment of complex fractures in tibia and femur with static...
